Power of attorney / Authorisation

If you want someone to act on your behalf regarding your application, you must first grant the person power of attorney to function as your legal representative. You could choose, for example, an employer, family member or other person you trust.

The person you authorise must be of legal age, i.e., over 18 years of age.

If you authorise someone to represent you, the immigration authorities will contact your representative about matters concerning your case instead of you.

How do I authorise someone when I hand in my application?

It is easiest to authorise someone when you hand in the application.

How do I authorise someone after I have handed in my application?

If you did not hand in a Power of attorney form when you handed in the application, you can do so now.

  1. Fill in the Power of attorney form (pdf, 270 kB). Remember to sign the form.
  2. Make a copy of your passport (the page with personal information and signature) or other valid identification document where your signature is visible.
  3. Send the form and a copy of your identification document to UDI.

How do I authorise someone after I have handed in an application for protection?

If you did not hand in a Power of attorney form when you handed in the application for protection, you can do so now.

  1. Fill in the Power of attorney form (pdf, 270 kB). Remember to sign the form.
  2. Make a copy of your passport (the page with personal information and signature) or other valid identification document where your signature is visible.
  3. Send the form and a copy of your identification document as attachments in an e-mail to dokument@udi.no. Write “Power of attorney” as the subject of the e-mail to ensure rapid registration.
